Kansas City, Mo. (May 23, 2012) - AMC Theatres'® guests in the Denver area are discovering that popcorn and candy aren't the only things to be enjoyed during a movie. Earlier this month at AMC Highlands Ranch 24, AMC unveiled the convenience and expanded concession offering selection with The Marketplace, as well as its amazingly popular bar concept - MacGuffins. These concepts will be available in the coming weeks at AMC Westminster Promenade 24, which is currently under construction.
With these additions, guests who are at least 21 years old can enjoy a beer, cocktail or glass of wine with their movie, and all guests can enjoy concession items such as chicken tenders, ice cream, loaded nachos and fries, and more than 120 drink options through the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine.
"Guests have always been able to count on AMC to deliver a great moviewatching experience, but we're stepping up our game on the concession side," said George Patterson, senior vice president of Food and Beverage at AMC. "These new options go far beyond what guests are used to at the theatre, and the feedback we've received in other parts of the country has been tremendous."
Named after a term coined by famed filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, MacGuffins features a variety of beer, wine and cocktails, including frozen and specialty drinks. The bar area is perfect for guests at least 21 years old to meet before the show, or gather after the movie to recap what they saw while enjoying a drink. Guests with a photo ID can also order their drink at the bar and bring it into their auditorium to enjoy as they watch their film.
The Marketplace's grab-and-go design eliminates the need to wait in line to order concessions. Guests choose their favorite concession items before proceeding to the checkout area. And with so many new options available, they can select what they want without the pressure of a line.
The Marketplace allows guests choices beyond the traditional popcorn and candy options. Guests can now choose from favorites such as a Philly Steak sandwich, hot foods like chicken bites, jalapeño poppers and mozzarella sticks, and sweet dessert options such as an Oreo® Brownie Stack, Big Blitz Bar with Snickers®, a Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake and fresh scooped ice cream. The classics such as popcorn, hot dogs and candy are still available, as well as a few new twists on some old theatre favorites, including a chili-cheese dog, classic Chicago dog and a bacon bleu dog. Loaded nachos, loaded waffle fries and gourmet popcorn are also available.
A number of better-for-you options are also featured, including AMC Smart MovieSnacks™, assorted nuts, dried fruit, and granola crunch selections, meat, cheese, and cracker combos, and gluten-free items including chocolate brownies.
The drink menu is expanded and in addition to Coca-Cola Freestyle™ machines, the revolutionary fountain drink dispenser, which offers more than 120 different drink options, the theatre now features coffee and espresso using Seattle's Best products. And guests can also choose among frozen options, including YogenFruz® Frozen Yogurt and Minute Maid® Frozen Smoothies.
