Kansas City, Mo. (January 18, 2006) - AMC Theatres will begin selling $2 Gold Heart Pins at locations across the United States this month for Variety ? The Children's Charity's 16th Annual Gold Heart Campaign. AMC guests who purchase a Gold Heart will receive a free movie rental coupon thanks to AMC's partnership with The Coca-Cola® Company and Blockbuster Inc.

The pin, inspired by the family film "Zathura," was designed by Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures. It features the planet Saturn on a field of stars, with an inlaid blue ring. Geoffrey Ammer, President of Worldwide Marketing for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, commented, "We are very proud to be a part of this wonderful charitable effort that has been a part of our industry for the last 16 years."
"Zathura" Gold Heart Pins are being sold at AMC Theatres' box office and guest services areas now through Thurs., March 2, 2006.
This is the fifth year that the charity has partnered with a Hollywood film studio to create a Gold Heart Pin featuring a film or a character. Last year's Spider-Man Gold Heart Pin raised more than $2.4 million dollars in the United States from all partner exhibitors, up 10% from the previous year's total.

Many disabled children are served by Variety's Sunshine Coaches, generously sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, providing much-needed transportation and, in conjunction with the "Variety at Work" program, taking kids to outreach activities.
